The Gift of Contrast

My teacher and energy intuitive, Marie Manuchehri, says we live on Earth, a planet of contrast.   In Batman: The Dark Knight in which the Joker is holding a knife to Batman’s throat. Batman dares the Joker, “Go ahead and kill me.” The Joker, with a perplexed, twisted look on his face, replies,

“I don’t want to kill you. You complete me.” What he is saying is that without his heroic counterpart, he would be nothing.

The hero of any good story could not exist if it were not for the villains that challenge the heroes along the way…”the hero is only as strong as the villain”.

Eastern traditions say “the Sinners and the Saints are merely exchanging notes”.  We have tasted the sweetness of love, and the sour disappointment of loss, and the bitterness that remans after a heartbreak.  Would we know safety and security without experiencing fear. We are capable of the greatest sets of selflessness and the most destructive self-punishing wrongs.  How could we experience true happiness without experiencing deep sadness.

When we being full of the light of our awareness, we can see our shadows exposed.  We must be willing to take a hard look at ourselves in order to step out beyond our judgmental minds.  Could there be music if there was not a brief silence between notes.  It is the length of the silence and the length of the notes which creates the magic of music.  Our whole life is contrast, day vs. night, cold vs. heat and of, course good vs. evil.
