Gratefulness makes us Happy

“In daily life we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy.” ~ Br. David Steindl-Rast

July was amazing with my Ireland trip and my birthday.  Intuitively then my August theme is “Gratitude!  As I stand along the ever-changing waters of life, I will always have the choice to make. Dr. David Simon MD of the Chopra Center and one of my great teachers always taught me that each morning I have a choice: everything is happening for me: an attitude of gratitude or everything is happening to me: an attitude of grievance. I just need to pick a good one.  This month I will choose to see the beauty in the little things, and life will become even more incredible than me.

Happiness isn’t about having the perfect circumstances or the newest achievements-it’s about my mindset.  Research shows that practicing gratitude rewires your brain, making you more resilient, optimistic, and content. When you focus on what’s good in your life, no matter how small, you train your mind to see abundance rather than lack. If I let circumstances determine my happiness, I will find myself constantly chasing, only to never be satisfied. Gratitude will shift my perspective, helping me find joy in the present moment. Happiness is not a destination; it is the ultimate destination and gratitude is the path that leads me there.

Therefore, each day, I will take a moment to acknowledge the blessings around me.

This simple practice can shift my perspective and fill my heart with peace, happiness and joy!  With an Attitude of Gratitude 🙏  Roland
